DJ for a Day

Ever since I started working for RedRibbon Days, I'm proud to say that I have tried most of the experiences that is published on our website - especially the adventurous experiences. Our Founder and CEO, Sherin Wong believes in making sure the adventurous experiences are tried and tested by one of us before we publish the experiences on our website. 

One of the most unlikely experience I would volunteer to try out would be a Disc Jockey For a Day. As you see, I'm not talented especially when it comes to music but I gave it a try anyway. After all, I wanted to learn about this experience and we had a customer that was doing the experience.

I was fascinated by the cool gadgets they used to teach the experience - Underground DJ Taster Course. (below). I call them gadgets because I forgot what they are called. Haha!

Okay I know the picture below is called a Mac Book Pro ;) 

 We were taught how to catch beats on cool vinyl records. Well, that's all I did actually. I caught beats for 5 minutes and it was evident that I could never be called DJ MingNERrD :) So I gave way to our customer to do the experience.

Although it's not an experience for me but our customers love the experience. Some of them even sign up for a full course - Make me a Disc Jockey package after the taster course. Now, DJs have huge respect from me as I can never be one.

Outdoor Rock Climbing

It's common to rock climb indoors especially in KL but where can we do outdoor rock climbing in KL? RedRibbon Days has a outdoor rock climbing experience at Batu Caves and it's amazing.

We recently have a couple that decided to engage RedRibbon Days to help them plan their adventurous date.

We had to be at the venue 1 hour before the experience to set up/prepare and 'hook' the 'rings' on the wall of the cave. Although Batu Caves is famous for rock climbing, it's not an experience that can be done if you are a beginner and would like to try it out for the first time, unless of course, you get this experience from RedRibbon Days :)

 If you are lucky, you might even get a group of cheer leaders to cheer for you (below - Yup, guys as your cheerleaders). A rose amongst the thorns, our customers were extremely lucky because our Founder and CEO, Sherin Wong was the cameraman that day.

 We even set up a small canopy for the couple to take a break and picnic.

After the experience, if you like to play hide and seek, you could as well. Lots of hidden holes between the walls (below). 

 Easy to get in but getting out it's a bit difficult (below).

TSH World Environment Day

After months of preparation at RedRibbon Days for World Environment Day, the day, 5th June finally arrives!

Highlights of the event:

- the beautiful garden and everyone worked together to complete Taman Hiasan at Taman Botani Shah Alam (below)
- our beautiful buses with pictures of good looking celebrities - so Sex and The City (faces on bus) (below)


- the outriders (below)


And as usual, my blog will not really focus on the event - TSH-World Environment Day itself but our RedRibbon Days team members!

We were divided into Team A and Team B on that day to ensure event goes smoothly. Team A was to stay at the meeting point and Team B went straight to Taman Botani for setup. I was in Team B : B equals Bieber? Haha!

It was raining heavily when we arrived at Taman Botani. Everyone in Team B worked together to setup the place. Everyone was determined to continue to complete setting up Taman Botani in the rain. I didnt take any picture since it was raining.

Team A also worked together to make sure the event went smoothly.

Team A's job was to help up with registration, sound system, parking of guests, flow of the event etc but have a look at our go beyond the call of duty team members do (below)


Yup! They are sweeping and mopping! There were supposed to be cleaners on that day but rather than complaining to the building management, Team A grabbed a broom and mop without hesitation!

I would like to highlight that Shiva, also goes beyond the call of duty to ensure no one is hungry during the event. (below)

I am very proud of RedRibbon Days team members' relationship with each other. We even share food (below)

Taman Botani - TSH-World Environment Day

RedRibbon Days was engaged by our client, TSH to organise TSH-World Environment Day 2011. Other than organising the event on that day, RRD was involved in pre-event initiative to hype up the event and create more awareness with the help of Malaysian celebrities. In addition to that, RedRibbon Days was also involved in planning and overseeing the reconstruction of Taman Hiasan at Taman Botani, Shah Alam.

So you can imagine, the team and I had to visit the garden at least once a week for at least 6 weeks! I love going to Taman Botani because it's so green and I get to be close to nature, which was fantastic!

The picture above was taken sometime mid May before the garden was completed. Now, it's a beauty.

During our visits, we saw many monkeys at the Taman (below)


One particular monkey caught my attention. It was on top of a tree drinking something (below)


When I zoomed in, I realise that the monkey was drinking Milo! (below)

I wanted to see how far my camera could zoom. So I continued zooming in. I was shocked when I realised my camera's capability (below)

RedRibbon Days' Corporate Trade Show

RedRibbon Days participated in a tradeshow in May 2011. Please check out our booth (below):


Quite tastefully done - RED and WHITE - credit to Sherin and the corporate team of course. Looking at the picture suddenly reminded me of the heavy tables, computer monitor, banners, boxes... that we worked together to carry up and down the stairs.

Okay, now I shall focus on one of my favourite topics, Nik! I think those who read my blog notice that I love talking about Nik because she is very funny.

The booth next to ours were selling massage chairs and the sales person was very friendly. Kept coming over to our booth and talked to us. He even invited us to try his massage chair.

Since the sales person was so friendly, Nik decided to try the massage chair (below).


Reza, Sophia and I were quite busy explaining to people about RedRibbon Days. We didnt notice that Nik was gone for quite a while.

Then it started raining heavily. Nik slept so well that someone stole her shoes while she was sleeping. Dont believe me? check out the photo (below)

Yup! Poor Nik was shoe-less.

Turtle Mode

Recently I had the opportunity to do a go-kart experience with RedRibbon Days. At RedRibbon Days, we believe in actually road testing our experiences before we put it up on our website and customise it into a gift experience. Hence all of us at RRD have the opportunity to experience exciting stuffs.

So I would like to talk about my go kart experience. It's such an amazing experience. I never knew that I could feel how Webber feels. Of course it's not as fast as formula one but I felt like a formula one driver. I am an avid fan of Formula One and of course my favourite driver is Mark Webber. Why do I like Webber? Well he's Aussie! Aussie Aussie Oi! Oi! Oi!

It's so easy to drive a go kart, you only need to is accelerate and brake. No gear shiftings - so that was great for me since I dont remember how to change gears.

Dresscode for this experience: Just wear something comfortable - helmet and shower cap is provided. It's quite good since some people are disgusted with smelly and sweaty helmet - you get to wear a disposal shower cap.

Basically the hard part about this experience is wearing the shower cap (below)

So first, I took quite a long time trying to fit the shower cap in my head.
Then, I wore the helmet and was ready for the Experience of a lifetime! Of course the helmet was a little heavy for me that I had to use my right hand to adjust it.

........ Okay -lah, according to Sherin and Nik, I was probably the slowest. They cant expect me to go fast, after all, I was in my turtle mode!
It's definitely something that I would love to do again.

Chinese New Year at RedRibbon Days

Recently I posted a picture up on my twitter saying "Gong Xi Fa Cai". I know CNY never falls in July but seeing how RED the team was, reminds me of CNY. Below is the photo that I posted up on twitter :
